EK1828 | EtherCAT Coupler with integrated digital inputs/outputs

The EtherCAT Couplers from the EK18xx series combine the functionalities of the EK1100 EtherCAT Coupler with standard digital I/Os in one housing. This results in a compact design that is especially suitable for applications with a low number of I/Os. Like the EK1100, the EK18xx coupler can be extended by all EL/ES terminals. The digital I/Os are implemented with a 1-wire technique. The wiring can be implemented without tools using a direct plug-in technique with solid wire conductors or ferrules.

In connection with an EK1100 EtherCAT coupler, the EK1561 single-port POF branch makes it possible to convert from 100BASE-TX physics to 100BASE-FX physics (POF – Plastic Optical Fibre). Distances of up to 50 m between two couplers can be bridged using the EK1561 and the EK1541 EtherCAT Coupler for POF. Unlike the glass fibre, the POF fibre is easily wireable in the field. The EK1501-0100 coupler connects EtherCAT with the EtherCAT Terminals (ELxxxx). A station consists of an EK1501-0100 coupler, any number of EtherCAT Terminals, an EL9011 bus end cap or an EK1110 EtherCAT extension. The coupler converts the passing telegrams from Ethernet 100BASE-FX to E-bus signal representation. The multimode glass fibre connection enables distances of up to 2 km between two couplers.

In addition, the coupler serves as media converter from optical fibre to copper. It is suitable for multimode optical fibre, always operates bidirectionally and collision-free with constant delay.

The EK1501-0100 coupler connects EtherCAT with the EtherCAT Terminals (ELxxxx). A station consists of an EK1501-0100 coupler, any number of EtherCAT Terminals, an EL9011 bus end cap or an EK1110 EtherCAT extension. The coupler converts the passing telegrams from Ethernet 100BASE-FX to E-bus signal representation. The multimode glass fibre connection enables distances of up to 2 km between two couplers.

In addition, the coupler serves as media converter from optical fibre to copper. It is suitable for multimode optical fibre, always operates bidirectionally and collision-free with constant delay.

The EK1501-0100 has three hexadecimal ID switches for assigning an ID to a group of EtherCAT components. This group can then be located at any position within the EtherCAT network. Variable topologies are therefore easily implementable.

The 2-port EtherCAT junction enables configuration of EtherCAT star topologies. A modular EtherCAT star can be realised by using several EK1122 units in a station. Individual devices or complete EtherCAT strands can be connected at the junction ports. The EtherCAT junctions are connected via RJ45 sockets with direct display of link and activity status. EK1122 | 2-port EtherCAT junction

The 2-port EtherCAT junction enables configuration of EtherCAT star topologies. A modular EtherCAT star can be realised by using several EK1122 units in a station. Individual devices or complete EtherCAT strands can be connected at the junction ports. The EtherCAT junctions are connected via RJ45 sockets with direct display of link and activity status. The Run LED indicates the status of the EK1122. Through TwinCAT and other suitable EtherCAT masters the EK1122 also supports coupling and uncoupling of EtherCAT strands during operation (Hot Connect).

The EK1101 coupler connects EtherCAT with the EtherCAT Terminals (ELxxxx). A station consists of an EK1101 coupler, any number of EtherCAT Terminals, an EL9011 bus end cap or an EK1110 EtherCAT extension. The coupler converts the passing telegrams from Ethernet 100BASE-TX to E-bus signal representation.

The EK1100-0008 coupler connects EtherCAT with the EtherCAT Terminals (ELxxxx). One station consists of an EK1100-0008 coupler, any number of EtherCAT Terminals and a bus end cap. EK1101-0010 | EtherCAT Coupler with ID switch, Extended Distance

The EK1101-0010 coupler connects EtherCAT with the EtherCAT Terminals (ELxxxx). A station consists of an EK1101-0010 coupler, any number of EtherCAT Terminals and a bus end cap. The coupler converts the passing telegrams from Ethernet 100BASE-TX to E-bus signal representation.

Using the extended distance connection, distances of up to 300 m can be bridged between two Extended Distance Couplers. If only one connection of the two Couplers is configured for Extended Distance, the maximum distance between the stations is 100 m.

The EK1101-0010 has three hexadecimal ID switches for assigning an ID to a group of EtherCAT components. This group can then be located at any position within the EtherCAT network. Variable topologies are therefore easily implementable.

The EK1000 EtherCAT Coupler supports EtherCAT communication via a switched Ethernet network, combining TSN (Time-Sensitive Networking) with the wide I/O range of EtherCAT Terminals. The EK1000 EtherCAT Coupler also enables EtherCAT communication in standard Ethernet networks. In addition, proven EtherCAT features such as distributed clocks and XFC can also be used within a TSN network. In this way, the EK1000 effectively links EtherCAT and TSN networks and combines their benefits: EtherCAT provides a real-time capable single-device level and is therefore ideally suited to combine the numerous small data packets of digital and analog inputs that are typical for industrial environments into a complete process image. TSN, on the other hand, defines a physical layer, which only relates to the switch layer in switched Ethernet networks. As a real-time extension of the general Ethernet technology, it controls the procedures and priorities for the transport of Ethernet telegrams through a TSN-capable, switched network. The EtherCAT Coupler has two RJ45 ports. One of these 100 Mbit/s ports connects the EK1000 to the Ethernet or TSN network. The second port enables EtherCAT network extensions, e.g. via the EK1100 EtherCAT Coupler. The EK1000 extends the TwinCAT automation software with a TSN-capable version of EtherCAT communication. In this way, TSN networks can also be managed seamlessly, and EtherCAT devices located in different terminal strands can be addressed via the TSN network.

The EK1000 EtherCAT Coupler supports EtherCAT communication via a switched Ethernet network, combining TSN (Time-Sensitive Networking) with the wide I/O range of EtherCAT Terminals. The EK1000 EtherCAT Coupler also enables EtherCAT communication in standard Ethernet networks. In addition, proven EtherCAT features such as distributed clocks and XFC can also be used within a TSN network. In this way, the EK1000 effectively links EtherCAT and TSN networks and combines their benefits: EtherCAT provides a real-time capable single-device level and is therefore ideally suited to combine the numerous small data packets of digital and analog inputs that are typical for industrial environments into a complete process image. TSN, on the other hand, defines a physical layer, which only relates to the switch layer in switched Ethernet networks. As a real-time extension of the general Ethernet technology, it controls the procedures and priorities for the transport of Ethernet telegrams through a TSN-capable, switched network. The EtherCAT Coupler has two RJ45 ports. One of these 100 Mbit/s ports connects the EK1000 to the Ethernet or TSN network. The second port enables EtherCAT network extensions, e.g. via the EK1100 EtherCAT Coupler. The EK1000 extends the TwinCAT automation software with a TSN-capable version of EtherCAT communication. In this way, TSN networks can also be managed seamlessly, and EtherCAT devices located in different terminal strands can be addressed via the TSN network.
