The digital EL1852 EtherCAT Terminal combines eight digital inputs and eight digital outputs in one device. The inputs have a filter of 3.0 ms. The EL1852 offers a very compact design with its 16 channels. The EL1502 EtherCAT Terminal is an up/down counter. It transmits the counter state to the higher-level automation device in an electrically isolated manner. When it is used as a single-channel up/down counter (32 bit), the pulse is set via the clock input, while the count direction is set via the up/down input. The input can also be used as a gate input for triggering the counter. In two-counter mode, two separate counters (Clock and Clock1 inputs) are available, which can be parameterised as up or down counters. The signal state of the inputs and outputs is indicated by light emitting diodes. The 8-channel digital input terminal EL1258 acquires fast binary control signals from the process level and transmits them electrically isolated to the controller. In comparison with the EL1252, the EL1258 not only offers a higher channel density, but thanks to the multi-timestamping function also a higher performance. Whereas the EL1252 can accept one edge change with timestamp per bus cycle, the EL1258 offers the possibility to register up to 32 events with timestamps. The reduced timestamp width of 32 bits, which corresponds to a resolution of 4.29 seconds, does not result in functional restrictions for most applications. Through the distributed clocks system, the EL1258 is synchronised with other EtherCAT devices, so that events in the whole system will be measured with a uniform time base.

EL1258 | 8-channel digital input terminal with multi-timestamping

The 8-channel digital input terminal EL1258 acquires fast binary control signals from the process level and transmits them electrically isolated to the controller. In comparison with the EL1252, the EL1258 not only offers a higher channel density, but thanks to the multi-timestamping function also a higher performance. Whereas the EL1252 can accept one edge change with timestamp per bus cycle, the EL1258 offers the possibility to register up to 32 events with timestamps. The reduced timestamp width of 32 bits, which corresponds to a resolution of 4.29 seconds, does not result in functional restrictions for most applications. Through the distributed clocks system, the EL1258 is synchronised with other EtherCAT devices, so that events in the whole system will be measured with a uniform time base.

The 16-channel EL1259 digital EtherCAT Terminal combines the function of the EL1258 – eight multi-timestamping inputs – with those of the EL2258 – eight multi-timestamping outputs. The high channel density in conjunction with timestamping of the signals enables fast, efficient processes through optimised sensor and actuator control. The EL1259 is also synchronised with other devices through the distributed clocks system, so that events in the whole system can be measured with a uniform timebase. The combination of DC-switched inputs and outputs within one terminal can be used for local switching tasks.

The EL1202 digital input terminal acquires the binary control signals from the process level and transmits them, in an electrically isolated form, to the higher-level automation unit. It is suitable for particularly fast signals due to its very low input delay. The EtherCAT Terminal can support distributed clocks, i.e. the input data can be monitored synchronously with other data that are also linked to distributed clock terminals. To this end, the user has to switch to terminal version EL1202-0100 (see documentation). The DC accuracy across the system is << 1 µs. For this, the user has to switch the terminal to the EL1202-0100 version (see documentation). The EL1202 contains two channels whose signal state is indicated via LEDs.

The EL1252 digital input terminal acquires the fast binary control signals from the process level and transmits them, in an electrically isolated form, to the controller. The signals are furnished with a timestamp that identifies the time of the last edge change with a resolution of 1 ns. This technology enables signals to be traced exactly over time and synchronised with the distributed clocks across the system. With this technology, machine-wide parallel hardware wiring of digital inputs or encoder signals for synchronisation purposes is often no longer required. In conjunction with the EL2252 EtherCAT Terminal (digital output terminal with timestamp), the EL1252 enables responses with equidistant time intervals, largely independent of the bus cycle time.
